royal purple oil
royal purple oil
Is Royal Purple oil a synthetic? I don't want a synthetic, just regular oil, and the reason for RP is that I am in guam and they sell it on the base here. but do I just buy 12 quarts of regular 15/40? or do I need to get stuff that says diesel specifically on it? what royal purple do you run in your engine?
he man, my family has been running rp in everything we own since 1997 or '98. we use everything from hydraulic oil to grease. it is a synthetic oil, and when you put it in, you change the oil and filter at the next 5000 miles. when the next 5k roles around, change the filter only, and top off. then change filter and oil the next 5000. its cheaper in the long run then conventional motor oil. we use 15/40 in our diesel trucks and heavy equipment, 10/30 in our gasoline engines. if you drive right, it nets about 1/2 to 1mpg gains in fuel economy. we ussually buy it in 55gal drums, but i get it in nc in 5 gallon jugs for about 70.00 with shipping and tax. never had a problem with it. the guys who sold us on the product have dodge and ford diesels, and all of them have between 500,000 to 900,000 miles on the clock now. they use their trucks for pulling cows, and backhoes, and dozers. no problems except for normal parts wearing out such as brakes, altenators, waater pumps, but no problem w/ engine/tranny/axles. id go for it. it is good stuff. your engine will run a little bit quieter at idle, if that matters. they make every lube for every application you can think of.

oh yeah, how come you dont want to use a synthetic. it provides better all around protection for just a little more money. rp is worth the extra cost, and from all my experiences, it is a little cheaper than any of the other synthetics.
Where in the world do you get it from that cheap. i live 45 mins from their offices and storage and dont even get it that cheap. we were looking to get it for our big trucks and that was deeply discounted, but i was able to talk them out of it. they were wanting to change the oil in these trucks (about every 2 years). Doing them at 2 yrs, there is a better chance of over looking a problem you might find while doing you semi-annual pms. alot of things will break as they are subjected to lots of abuse. however RP is a great company to work for when i took the oil back they didnt give me any hassle. when i do hit 20k miles im definately going synthetic route...

i live in jacksonville, nc. i get it from croms automotive. not trying to advertise for the guy. i dont know if mentioining his name breaks any rules here, but hes trying to make a bigger market for it. the first time i bought it from him it was at $85. he told me if i keep getting it from him, hell drop the price. i believe he said that hed keep it at 70 from now on. cant complain. when wed get it in 55 gal drums back in tx, my dad would pay about $550-$600 a barrell. i know it sounds fishy but its true.
