Rode in a Chevy 1500HD today

I've had four Chevy trucks in my driving career:

1977 3/4 ton 2WD Custom Deluxe
1975 1/2 ton 4WD Custom Deluxe
2000 1/2 ton 2WD Silverado
2005 3/4 ton 4WD Silverado w. Duramax/Allison

Today, when I carpooled into work in a Chevy 1500HD, it was like stepping back 7 years to my old 2000 work truck. I have no idea why the GM interiors are praised so highly here - it's the same old cheap plastic crap that GM has been putting in since the new millenium.

The 2006 Ram interiors are way better. More storage, better aesthetics, better quality plastics.

That is all.

The 1500HD is essentially a rebadged 2500. Not 2500HD, just plain old 2500. I think the GVWR is in the high 8000's.

Like HOV said, it's basically a rebadged 2500. It's on the same frame as the 2500 and is only available with the 6.0 gasser...

In actuality, the 1500 mega cab is the same situation...

The 1500HD is 8,600, the 2500HD(3500) is 9,200 and the 3500SRW is 9,900 and the 3500DRW is 11,400.

My dad has a 02' 2500HD 4x4 LB7 and my buddy owns a 02' 1500HD 4x4 6.0L. The frames are quite different. The 2500 HD has a much taller frame, at least the back part. The leaf packs are identical, but the 2500HD has a 11.5" rear axle where the 1500 HD has a 10.5" axle.

This is comparing two 2002 models. I haven't compared any of the new ones.

I think the HD, SD badging give it more appeal to people and their bragging rights. "Well you have a 2500? Well I have a 1500 HD! Beat that!"

Well it coulda' been a 2000 model. GM has had that interior layout GMT 800, since 99, up to the 07 Classics. What's your point???
I had an '01 Dodge that had the "same cheap plastic crap" that dated all the way back to 1998. What a dinosaur!!
FWIW, I'm not praising the GM interiors, or knocking DOdges. They're all great and they all stink.
I don't understand your post.

the base interiors of all three truck brands are the same to me... the only interior that stands out to me is the king ranch package on the SD's last few years...it is very nice...other than that there are no differences to me...i like the gmc's/chevs 1/2 tons...u can get some decent mileage out of their old 4.3s and the new 4.8 V8...just add a small diesel into the 1/2 ton line-up and im there...i only have a 3/4 ton because it has a diesel...
