Rebuilding H1C.. do I need to balance the whole assembly?

I'm rebuilding my H1C right now. It has more shaft play than I like right now, but the turbine and compressor have not touched the housings yet. When I install the new journal bearings, piston rings, and thrust bearing, will I need to have the turbine and compressor balanced?

A friend told me that I have to send the turbine, compressor, and compressor nut off to someone with a VSR balancer so that they could balance the whole rotating assembly at once, but that doesn't make sense if the comprssor and turbine are balanced separate of each other.

The manual for the H1C says to mark the wheel on the shaft so that it can be reinstalled the same way. Otherwise no re-balancing is necessary. ON the later turbos, the wheels are balanced separately so they can be assembled in any position without affecting balance.

I changed the internals of an H1C to make a WH1C out of the parts from two turbos and there were no problems with balance. I think the stories about balance are mostly FUD since once the wheels are balanced they stay balanced unless they are damaged.

Thanks, that's what I figured.
There are already marks on my H1C, and they look to be factory marks. The marks on the nut, shaft, and compressor wheel don't line up at all.

I might just break down and send the rotating assembly to forced performance for a balance. They only charge 35$ to do it, and it's good insurance rather than assuming my wheels are still in balance.

Thanks!
