Purolator Pure One or Fleetguard Stratopore?

Just wondering which of the two has better filtering capabilities? The Pure One is about 3 or 4 bucks more expensive, but is the filtering 3 or 4 dollars BETTER? Either way I look at it, if I buy the Fleetguards from Geno's, I am looking at about the same price after shipping. Thanks

Cummins owns Fleetguard. They know how to filter their own engines. I personally wouldn't take the chance. I don't know the stats on the Purolator, but I also haven't heard good or bad about them either. I would stick with what I know works.

I have been running the Purolator PL45335 on my trucks since 2001. I have had no problem with them and they are on the Dodge approved filters list. I use them on my wifes truck as well. I like the fact I can get them at Advance Auto local for about $6.

Same here... I've used the Purolators since day 1. They were on the approved list and at 123,000 miles,,,,, it still doesn't use a drop of oil between changes.

Here is a link to a filter comparison that was done back in 2000. Click Here

Cut one of each open and you decide which one looks better inside!

Curiosity got to me a while back after first reading about some "orange" filters killing CTD's and I cut open a used Mopar and a used white Fleetguard filter. The grey mopar filter for my CTD was a plain cellulose filter. The Fleetguard filter was a microglass filter .
I'll never put another grey mopar one on my truck.(Even if it IS made by Fleetguard for DC!)
I've seen the inside pix of Fram filters and I didn't even waste my time cutting one open .
WIX I don't know about...
If the prospective filters are cheap enough, cut one open and take a look.

K.

I'd stay with fleetguard....as someone said, it's Cummin's owh brand.

Also, you should be able to buy fleetguard at any big truck store; I bought mine locally for ~$10.

$11 At Geno's.
