Power service PREMIUM products...

I really like power service in the silver and white bottles.

I was checking out their website and found out that they offer PREMIUM products...

This stuff:
http://www.powerservice.com/agripowe...eboost_app.asp

... is roughly equivelent to their silver bottle but looks like is has better overall properties and they have a winter edition of it as well. Anyone know about it?

I've inquired to see how much it'll cost to have a case shipped here.

I'd be surprised if they'll sell it to you.
This is the high test stuff usually only sold to fuel marketers due to hazardous handling. Friend of mine who drives a fuel tanker says the guy who adds this type of additive to his tanker at the fuel depot wears a Haz-Mat suit.

Haha wow. Maybe it's a little overkill, no pun intended.

Not trying to be a smarty pants, but if the stuff is being added to the tanker or at the refinery, why do people feel the need to add 8 more oz. at the pump?

Good question, my feeling is most people use them just to make themselves feel good.
I only use them for winter anti-gel myself. Heck, fuel is expensive enough already without tacking on a few more cents per gallon that are questionable as to their necessity. My 2¢

I like the way Chevron addresses additives on their diesel fuel website
http://www.chevron.com/prodserv/fuel.../L2_7_2_fs.htm

Aftermarket Additives It would be convenient for the user if a finished diesel fuel could satisfy all his or her requirements without the use of supplemental additives. Although this is often the case, some users must use additives because the low temperature conditions in their region are more severe than those for which the fuel was designed, or because of other special circumstances. Other users feel that they need a higher quality diesel than regular diesel.

A large number of aftermarket additive products are available to meet these real or perceived needs. Some are aggressively marketed with testimonials and bold performance claims that seem "too good to be true." So, as with any purchase, it is wise to remember the advice, caveat emptor – let the buyer beware.

It may be helpful to regard additives as medicine for fuel. Like medicine, they should be prescribed by an expert who has made an effort to diagnose the problem. And they should be used in accordance with the recommendations of the engine manufacturer and the instructions of the additive supplier. Sometimes indiscriminant use of additives can do more harm than good because of unexpected interactions.
If I'm not mistaken Cummins says no additives are needed nor recommended for the Dodge engines.

because you don't really know what is going into what fuel... do you?

e.g. truckers fill up with #1 diesel and then it gels on them when it's not supposed to
e.g. gasoline mixed with diesel as someone else posted about

BTW, this is soy based, containing no alcohol... I'm not sure what other chemicals may be in it though.

Another way to look at it is how many years have you driven gassers without using additives?
Why should diesel be any different?

I noticed a bit of a difference when I put in FTTP 8+ Cetane improver, not a whole lot though, nothing even close to adding octane booster to a gasser which is what I expected. Going to try this Power Service Premium Diesel Conditioner, as of now my dad just uses the Kleen-Flo Diesel Fuel Conditioner in the Winter on all his machines and trucks. And to clean out the injectors, just puts some ATF through a tank once in a while. Just my .02 Cents....

The biggest difference I notice w/ Power Service additives is I don't have to push on the throttle as much. I get a little better fuel mileage from it. I use fuel additive because I have no idea what HAS been added to the fuel at the refinery. Is it straight #2, or does it have a little bit of this and that mixed in? And that can vary w/ different oil companies.
