Interesting how Porsche resisted diesel technology because it wasn't "true to the brand" (yeah, neither is a Porsche SUV) yet they instead were developing hybrid technology.

I'm glad to see the diesel may come out before the hybrid.

you would think if Porsche is going to "borrow" some VW technology for its own performance brand, it would take the great VW V10 TDI, and not the puny V6 That is an absolute jewel of an engine to hear running in person, if you are "into" diesels.

Interesting also how much $$$$$ the Suv design has made for Porsche, which they have been able to turn into developement money for thier sports cars. Now that the SUV world is on the skids, then need to do something to bolster their sales. I would offer the following idea: Bring out two models. Produce a 3.2L V6 diesel for the economy-minded. Then bring out the 6-or-so L V10 that VW has really not suceeded with as a performance version.

I was typing my post as the last one was going up - so I guess we both had the same idea...

I don't see why not, Audi is coming out with a diesel powered supercar. I figure in the near future of seeing more diesel powered rocket ships.
