Black grill on red truck

My truck got hit by hell in the Windsor, CO tornado. The truck is getting mostly all new panels and a complete repaint. I was thinking about having the front chrome grill painted. Instead of red to match the truck in the sport mode, I was thinking about black. Anyone have that combination out there and could provide some pics? Instead of paint, anyone tried spraying with a bed liner so it won't chip?

Here is one you can order. You can just call this co. and order it over the phone if you want. You can paint it yourself whatever color you want.

I think as long as you have other black parts on the truck too it will look good. Like how Gary Emerald's friends truck has the black wheels and black tool box to match. With out the matching parts I don't think it would look right.

Thats where I was going. Black flares, black fuel door, black door handles, no chrome badges and someday a black front and rear road armor bumper.

Were debating whether or not to get a black grille. Were about to debadge and get black or black and chrome rims also.

before new bumper/red grille/smoked lights

After...kinda

Its a toss up red grille looks good but a black one would too.

i think you should match the body color. but if you have chrome elsewhere on the truck i would go chrome. i think a black grill on a non-black truck makes it look like a base model work truck - nothing wrong with that, it just depends what look you're going for. . .

see, I personally prefer the "work truck" look... down here, everybody slathers chrome all over everything... grills, door handles, exhaust tips, etc. etc. I can't stand looking like another yuppie w/ a truck

every one of my trucks gets fitted with black grills and bumpers. my 98 is "done" black grill, bumpers, black powdercoated wheels, etc. The '04 is almost done... grill, wheels, head/tail/cab lights... just need bumpers, and I'll be done.

both of my trucks are white, and it seems the more they look like work trucks, the less hassle you get from police/etc.

my buddy w/ that red '98 got let out of lots of tickets because the officers always assumed he was a fire fighter! LOL!

FWIW, that red grill looks nice w/ the black bumper! His truck was a sport, and the OEM grill had some bad paint chips, and the black grill was only $40, no paint matching necessary

I decided to go with the new grill from ebay. Ordered and received in less then a week. Nice and easy. The truck in still in the shop from the hail damage. So I took them the new grill to paint red and black. The outer and cross section red and the grill slats black. Thanks for all the advice!

Has anyone had any luck with Clear Bra or anything else to keep the chips to a minimum on the front end?
