I happen to walk by this Ram and took a peek at the engine (6in lift had to go on my toes) and saw this

...had to do a double take to make sure I saw it rite
only ting i noticed is that the engine bay was alittle crammed ... mind u I was on my toes

 

I saw one in a cab and chassis truck at the dealer a few weeks ago , that engine bay is starting to get a little bit busier than it used to be....

But it is still ALOT better than a powerstroke under there...

 

I'm sure interested to see how they perform, hopefully they are as good or better than our 5.9's. Being a cummins I don't see that being a problem....but you never know.

how do they get bigger displacement? is the whole engine different or did they just give it a bigger bore and stroke?

 

Yea i would like to know what all has been done to them. On the dodge website it says they make less HP(i think like 5 or 10) than the 5.9. But just are able to tow more?

 

I read a while back on this site that they were increasing the bore and changing the stroke a little, not much. The block is supposed to be the same.

That is why I am hoping some electrical genius figures out a way to implant an Asian 6 speed...

the 6.7 for the chassis trucks is rated lower, but when they put it in the normal trucks it will be rated at 350hp and 650tq.

 

Would this be the truck with the new tranny? I belive it is called the Aisen?

6.7 different block , different head and different cranks.

 

That's because the lighter trucks don't require a particulate filter and other power robbing emissions equipment .

 

I thought all new diesel trucks (2007) were required to have particulate filters, EGR and catalytic converters.

 

Your right XLR8R, ALL new diesel trucks, and cars too I think, require particulate traps and EGR, and as you know, hence the 6.7.

 

Yup , I just checked it out . The 6.7 will be available in January '07 for 2500 and 3500 pickups and they will have particulate filters .
