Derated

DCX derated the new 6.7 to make it easier to pass the new emission stats. To make up for the lower rating, they increased the CID.
Larger CID, lower rating = less emissions and same pulling power

I guess that leaves us more room for "BOMBING"

The September issue of Diesel Power had a write up on the new engine. It stated that 40% of the parts carry over. The head will be basically the same but with modified swirl chambers, the rods are the same also. The the compression ratio is raised to 17.3:1, the bore is increased to 107mm (4.21 inches) and the stroke grows to 124mm (4.88 inches).

Actually this new engine doesn't sound too bad. From another thread:

http://blogs.automotive.com/1002066/...ate/index.html

Maintains close hp/tq ratings as the 5.9 and supposed to be more fuel efficient. I thought fuel economy would go down with the bigger displacement but I guess not.
