oil pan heater
oil pan heater
my neighbor owns a chevy 6.2 diesel with LOTS of miles on it. during the winter he has the standard block heater and in addition to that he also has wired to that factory plug a separate oil pan heater. its a magnetic pad that attaches to the surface of the oil pan. it stays on there indefinitely. during the winter when its gets frigid out, plugs in the block heater and at the same time the oil at the base of the pan gets nice and toasty too. start ups in winter are easy. you know the oil is moving around real fast. pressure builds up quick etc...
anyone know of this or of similar.
thanks

I've been using one from Napa, similar to the Whitney one, for ten years that is siliconed to the pan. Have a plug in for it off the block heater cord. I only plug the pan heater in when it's below 0°F. This allows me to run 15w40 year round since in my area it's been known to go from 60° to minus 25° in 24 hours.
60° plus spells in the winter are very common.
