Off Road Ulsd Question

Does anyone forsee any problems with the old John Deere diesels, like my 4020 or any other tractor for that matter when they convert off road diesel to ULSD? According to what I read here a week or so ago, they must be converted by 2007.

"Nonroad Diesel Fuels
500 ppm: Sulfur limit of 500 ppm becomes effective in June 2007 for nonroad, locomotive and marine fuels.
15 ppm: Sulfur limit of 15 ppm (ULSD) becomes effective in June 2010 for nonroad fuel, and in June 2012 for locomotive and marine fuels. The ULSD has been legislated for nonroad engines to enable advanced emission control systems for meeting the Tier 4 nonroad emission standards."

I'm not concerned with it personally, but my buddy is going to buy a 4020 like mine and he wonders if it will run ok after the change. Anyone have any resonable information on these old, non-turbo, smoke belchers?

Thanks in advance.

If you are pulling a 18' disc you may have to cut it down to 16'

You won't have any engine problems other than a slight power drop and increased usage. It will be as seamless as it was when lead was removed from gasoline

Thanks. Like I said, I'm not worried too much myself, it is all the other guys that are. I forwarded them all the post about the ULSD and junk. It makes for interesting reading...
