OEM air filter

Well after listening to everybody on several web sites about CTD not liking the K&N air filter due to it being pre-oiled, I bought a new MoPar filter from Dodge. Guess what? The MoPar filter is also pre-oiled. Whats up with that?

I am a non believer in k&n's but the truck came with one I cleaned it when I got the truck and 5000 mile later took it out for cleaning oil and filter changes. Everything was very clean the intake was nice no oil migration and was kinda impressed. Fits tight to the original housing so will see. ED I did not over oil and let sit and migrate b4 install.

I didn't know Dodge even made a oiled stock air filter. The Mopar filters at Geno's Garage ( http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....=AF-53032700AA ) are not oiled and the Fleetguard air filter ( http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp?number=AF-26106 ) I have ready to put in shortly is not oil. In fact the factory air filter was not oiled. So I think somethings wrong if you have one that has oil on it.

JMHO.

any mopar filter i've used has always been a paper element. it shouldn't have been oiled.

the two i've used, one was just a regular paper element and the other was the same paper element but with a foam green pre filter that wasn't oiled.

I just checked Geno's and it is the same P/N and looks the same. Word of caution. Dodge sold me the 53032404AA, Same P/N as Geno's, but is was to long. Took it back and got P/N 53032700AB. So if you order one from Geno's for an 05 5.9L it may not fit.

mopar air filters are paper element, disposable, non-oiled filters.

Bought a purolator and the "cotton" backing on it had a very light oil film on it.
