a weak/bad/ford/chevy/toyota/isuzu/MB diesel is still ahead of the gasser game. I wish that I had realized this years ago. Better power and better milage.
Buy what you like, do with it what you want. I like them all. Well, not the new Ford. the old 7.3 is pretty good.
This is turning into a sportbike argument
...which is sad

years ago this was not true they were very unrefined and lacked the kind of power that they have today.

Man am I ever relieved after reading that post. I was real worried about how I was gonna plow the garden next spring but now I know ;D.
I don't know if this is the right place to post this question but, Does the 3 point hitch for the CTD Ram just plug into the hitch reciever or is some other add on required. and if I use the rototiller attachment should I also add the optional wheel weights.

Who knows maybe the v-twin on a Harley is made for a motor scooter.

Gee Wizz! ???
That's what's wrong with the world today, too many engineers and not enough grease monkeys. :- That guy needs to talk to a few more diesel mechanics, cause they hate all diesels! wouldn't you if you worked on them every day.

Obviously, this guy isn't aware of the marine applications. He also hasn't been around any marine terminals where the mighty 5.9 is used in the yard tractors coupled to automatic transmissions and routinely used to pull 44,000 lbs around. I don't mean easing around either. I mean pedal to the metal, through the gears, jam on brakes, petal to the metal again. This goes on around the clock with these trucks. And they last.
Some of the marine versions are set up to 350 hp. Crank em up, warm them up and then full throttle all the time. I don't believe I've seen a Duramax or Navistar in the marine version. But I see the 5.9 in shrimp boats, pilot boats, generator applications on ships, pleasure boats, and on and on. I believe what makes them last is the large bearings and beefy parts.
