Newbie Question...

What does it mean when I see the labels at the gas station saying not to use their diesel fuel in 2007 and later models as it is low sulpher?

I am completely new to diesels so pardon the ignorance.

The model year 2007 vehicles have new (and much more stringent) emissions requirements from the diesels of previous model years, and the new electronic sensors in them require the use of Ultra-low Sulpher diesel (ULSD) fuel (15 ppm). If you use the previous Low Sulpher diesel (LSD) fuel (500 ppm), it will ruin the electronic sensors.

Sort of like the old days when we moved from leaded gas to unleaded gas and O2 sensors.

It is ok to run ULSD in 2006 model year vehicles and earlier.

BTW, welcome aboard.
