New Engine For Dodge in 2006
Re:New Engine For Dodge in 2006
If Dodge was more customer friendly ie; options like real crewcabs, cab&chassis packages and a 4000-5000 series with the present diesel like Ford and Chev don't you think they might increase their market share?? The power train in the Dodge was never questionable just the junk around it, how many years did it take to get trailer wiring with heavier harnesses. Just like International always cheaping out on the needed stuff and expecting to get premium $$$$ for an adequate product. Now with reasonable truck sales due to the CTD you still can't get the fat heads at DC to listen, where do suppose the problem at DC lies. Just like Freightliner now limiting engine options to what they own you can buy a custom built truck your way as long as it is with their components. Scenario sound familiar, DC, Freightliner, Mercedes, Allison and Detroit all have become proprietory to their products and dictating to you the customer what you should buy. By doing this it also limits the other manufacturers availability for component options in larger trucks, like I have stated before customer opinion and needs are second to profit as per the shareholder boards who don't like investment for long term increased profit. Re:New Engine For Dodge in 2006
There definately was a stretch of time there when Dodge wasn't doing their homework .... remember the K-cars ?? What a piece of work :
All of the Big-3 have had their share of issues as well as award winners. I just wish I had a big barn full of the Mopar monsters. I'd give my left (you know what) for a 63' Chrysler 300-G with the 413ci cross-ram intake, double 4-barrel gas-guzzler !!!
Dad sold his before I was old enough to know that he needed to be tackled for doin it !!!

Makes me remember the days of the Charger, Challenger, Baracuda. Gotta love the ol' 440 Magnum or 426 Hemi.
Wonder if you could put a bombed CTD in a 69 Challenger.
What ride that would be.

I hear ya shovelhead. I think the point is that Dodge has always made a good truck. With the Cummins its a great truck. I do not think DC will give up on this winning combo unless they feel they can use their own engine for less cost. (MB or Detroit)
Having owned a 91, 95, 97, 02 and now an 03, they all have been very solid and well built. Only major problem with any of them was a bad converter on the 97. Many complain about a lack of features (Crew Cab) but all mine have served me well.
