New batteries... OOooohhh :)

Evenin, DTR.

Nothing special, got some new batteries today, some Optima red tops, (before you say 'Optima's are crap!!!' I got them for a good discount... )

Man, that truck turns over fast.

I bought the truck in Aug of 04, so those batteries had 5 years on them. They were not too bad, just a little slow. I almost cried when I got them in and that that big Cummins turned over .

I gotta tie them down, the battery box is not tight enough. We'll see.

I'm happy as a pig in poop!

Mine are at 6 years and 8 months from the build date of the truck. .. ( I am not to easy on them, Off Road lights, Big stereo amp) I am dreading buying new ones. I think mines life has been lengthened by being here in the south and many miles on the truck.

I put red tops in my 98.5 one winter and WOW what a diference. THe old ones started teh truck but when it was -10F it was slow cranking espesaly after running the grid heater for 60-90 seconds. Then the voltage would take forever to come back up, but with the red tops it cranked rite over even after running the grid heater for a long time and the voltage would rebound way faster. I wish I had the spare money sitting around rite now Ide put them in the 06 before it got any colder out.

I run od's in my race cars, seem to hold up but never ran them in the diesels, wonder about cranking amps, and do they make a heavy duty version for the diesels?

My 04 is getting new batteries today. I'm going with Interstate. I deal with our local Interstate guys almost weekly for my work so all I have to do is roll in and they take care of everything for me. I (they) put a set of them in my 99 and when one of them was about 9 mos old and went bad, again, I rolled in and simply popped the hood. Minutes later it had two new batteries in it and all I had to to was wave and head out. Awsome bunch of guys, and 1 gal behind the counter. Good folks.
