I put in a set of red tops back in '06. Still working great, and the terminals have yet to show any corrosion.

There are better batteries out there for the money.

I do not know if this set is specifically for my truck, but they are 800 CCA's.

Which brands are you referring to?

Mine are still cranking strong after 4+ years, but I just moved from San Diego back to my hometown(OKC) after retiring from the Navy. Thinking about replacing them before winter hits. In the past, I've always waited until they go bad, but nowadays, I don't think that way. Don't like being stranded in the cold.

I do have a very small amount of acid build up on one terminal of the drivers side battery, What causes that? Time to break out the Coke.

My new Interstate batteries are in. And yes, it does start very much better and the interior lights are so much brighter. No more slow cranking for me and my baby.

How slow are you talking about? Mine starts within 1 second now with the stock 4 year old batteries. Seems fast enough. Was yours taking a couple of seconds?

In the past yes... currently I have heard their quality has been lacking. Kind of like the Moog thread I responded to...

Mark, thats better than a Sheep in poop, you'd really ruin the wool then! Good job on the new batteries! I was going to get a set for my truck 2 yrs ago but every dealer around here that sold optimas wanted an arm, a leg, and your first born. I ended up with mopar batteries, they seem to do the job for now. Next batts will be Optimas.

Yep!

I've never seen anything bad personally, but their consumer ratings have gone down.

Im still on my original stock batteries after 5+ years...July 04.

I keep thinking it's time to replace them, but they continue to start strong and quick. Who knows...maybe next year? Or year after?

Im leaning toward Sears Diehard Platinum. Hear they are good.

I've got an Optima in my Jeep and it's been working well for 5+ years.

When I need new batts for my truck I'm going with the Sears Diehard Platinums also. From what I hear they are made by Oddessy for Sears but they are much less than what Oddessy charges.

Hey Robert,

7+ years on the originals. Still going strong.

But like you, I'm going with the Diehard Platinums when the time comes.

Our experiences with Optima is hit or miss. We have several that have no issues. My sister installed a redtop in her old Cadillac STS and didn't even last a week. A buddy had one in his Porsche 911 and it lasted about 6 months.

I am so amazed at how much of a difference these new batteries made. I've replaced many batteries through the years, and usually the car/truck just goes back to being normal. This time, the truck really seems happier. It not only starts fast, but it seems to have more pep and response. I wish I would have replaced them earlier. I do make it a habit to keep a very close eye on my batteries. I keep the terminals very clean a coated with a film of dielectric grease at all times.
