New anti-gel additive this winter??

I was told by my fuel oil supplier that there is a new additive in diesel this winter and that they've removed the kerosene to meet 2007 requirements. Anyone else heard this?

I don't know if there is a new additive but blended #1/#2 fuel has been on the way out for several years. Most vendors now use additive, cheaper and easier plus no need for additional tanks, pipeline loads, etc.
My friend who drives a fuel tanker tells me they add a concentrated version of Power Service at the terminal he loads up at. One gallon treats the 10,000 gallon tanker.
Most additives are only good down to -40°F, in areas where it gets colder a #1 blend is the only way to go.

Well here in north IA they still mix in 30% #1 diesel to make our winter blend fuel. The reason I know this for fact is that my cousin has been hauling fuel for many years around north Iowa. Also the one place that does use additive in their diesel cost between 5-8 cents a gallon higher then thoses who sell 70/30 mixed with #1.

I recomend calling Michael Waltrip Racing. I hear they know a thing or two about additives.
