Power Service
I run power service, anti gel. It's in a white bottle and you can buy at wallys. i think it's actually called diesel suppliment. Either way I love it. I add 8 ounces for half a tank, 16 for a full tank. I've had my truck up in Maine and it sat in 0 degree weather for a week on half a tank (good idea for condensation formation) and it fired up every time. It did have a hard time turning over since I couldn't plug in at night, but I've run it no problem. Power Service also has a anti gel warrentie if it gels up and you have recipts of use and all that. I love it.

The best cold weather protection I have found is Lucas . Lucas winter fuel treatment will take #2 down to -25 f. Even lower if you double dose. I have not found any other product that will make that claim. Be careful some say they will lower gell point by 25 degrees that is not nearly enough. that will only take you down to about 10 degrees.
You know, I just did the Tone Ring Mod a week ago and my mileage went down! My previous tank was a point higher and I'm wondering if they changed to the winter blend here last week. That would possibly explain why I didn't get the mileage increases most others have gotten. Is there any way to find out when they actually change to the winter blend?

Do you use the big 96 oz container or the 32?? If you hold it on an angle and put the top againts the filler neck you can pour without spilling it. I did the same thing and would end up losing most to the floor. I guess up in Rhode Island I use it enough that I've learned the proper pouring technic. Also if you want get a seperate container and pour it into there first. (that's how I measure how much to put in) But yeah if they put it into a bottle that was like a gear oil bottle be much more user friendly

Power Service, white jug. Had the truck in -19 deg. F two years ago, and it started...somewhat SLUGGISHLY, but it started!
Note: Getting out of the sleeping bag, I was a wee bit more sluggish than the truck was!

Coldest I've had a diesel powered truck was -5, with just winterized fuel, no other addative. Hunting trip in Colorado - no plug in for the block heater. Started just fine luckily. Would have been seriously screwed otherwise.
- I was in a sheepherder's tent, and the woodstove had LONG since gone cold (I didn't want to get out of the bag to fire it up again!)....
My sleeping bag is rated at -10, so it was nice and toasty within....didn't take long to lose THAT feeling once my boots hit the ground!

Aha...The old stove went dead in the middle of the night problem. I've been there for that before. But never in -19 degree weather thank goodness!! When I was younger we used to camp in Colorado at 9,000 ft during hunting season in nothing but a summer style tent with small propane heater.....COLD!!
Those were the roughing it days, no more of that for me.
