General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

^^^From that info I would want a nice p7100 pumped 12 valve in 97 Ford 1 ton super duty with 4 wheel disc brakes and a straight axle up front, gooseneck trailer..

Messing around with a new one and all the emmission stuff is asking for trouble......

Thanks Sixslug, you're probably right. Thing is, I just don't have that much ambition. And I am partial to Dodge even though the Ford in my opinion is probably just as good (maybe better).

The jury is still out on the 2013's as no one has one yet and because it will be a completely new truck with different emission equipment it might be some time until anyone knows how it will behave, just too many unknowns.

Just dreamin out loud on the 97 Ford.

I don't think they made the 2WD Super Duty's in anything but a standard cab back then...a crew cab, dually flatbed with boxes would be my idea of a nice tow rig!

I agree Busboy. I'm thinking my best choice may be to rework the 05 to singles on the rear and make all the mods I can. I have grown accustomed to the leather and electric stuff but the main thing is that it starts out to be the quietest diesel truck I've had. Absence of noise is very important to an old #### like me.
