miter cut stacks
this week I decided to miter-cut my stacks, because I wasn't happy with the looks of the straight cut ends. if you wanna see the result, check my gallery. It took me hours to think of a way, to make them equally cut, and I tried to make a drawing with the curve and then wrap-around it but it wasn't easy... also I didn't want it 45 degrees angled, but slightly less..
finally...happy I did it cause it looks awsome!!!

so how did you end up cutting them? thinking about doing a pair of stainless miter cuts, but can't think of a good accurate way to get the cuts even. I don't want them on a 45 either. shallower like yours.

and for the mitercut: scince I had a welded setup, first I took a long straight pipe and held it horizontal against the two tops of the stacks, and rubbed it up and down to leave a small scratch that is exactly the middle of the pipe. (in front direction and in the back)
scince I found no other solution, I made a tube of paper that fitted tight over the stack and cut it with a scissor to a desired miter. then I folded it vertical and cut it symmetric and at last
I flipped the top (folded horizontally) and made minor corrections, till it was perfect.
then slided the sleeve over the stack and lined up the fold of the paper with the small scratch, and so you can't go wrong and get some equally cut miters.
I cut them with a B&D angle grinder and a 1mm cutting-disc. filed the sharp edges.
the thinking took hours and hours and the final job was done in an hour or two...
scince then every day I walk twice or more to the truck, just too see those great pipes
