Mine was triple that after going to L.A. at dusk, I should have snapped some pics, course that was 400 miles. A lot of them were Bees due to the farmland on the way.

I make sure to wax the truck before a trip, it makes removing the bugs much easier...easier for the guys/gals at the local detail shop.

 

i got no pics but here in fl that 25 miles and you cant even see the chrome thru the grille. 1/2 hr day to clean the front of the truck. windshiled is toast after 10 mi and dont even THINK about wipers . keep it waxed is all you can do....by the way they smell great too!

I have heard of people applying a thin sheet of vasoline to the grill. Makes clean up a whole lot easier. Kind of messy but can save a lot of time.

 

At times, there are very heavy levels of them along the Texas Gulf Coast too.
A fact of life for Houston Hot-shot drivers.
They can get bad enough that they can plug up the radiator until the vehicle overheats and put you on the side of the road with a MESS to clean up.

Go to Home Despot, buy a roll of flexible window screen (non-metallic) and a sack of ty-wraps. Cut a chunk of screen large enough to cover the front grille/bumper air intake openings of your truck. Ty-wrap it in place over the grille and bumper openings. If you want it to look better for the long haul, install it under the grille, over the radiator/IC/AC etc.
They are much easier to get rid of in a hurry by merely chunking the cheap piece of loaded windowscreen than trying to waterblast their little rotting bodies out of your Radiator, Intercooler, AT Cooler and AC condenser.

It won't help your windshield and headlights , but at least you won't have to deal with them in your heat exchangers too!

Not the same bugs, but bugs in general...Some of the worst times are when the Monarch Butterfly's are migrating, miles and miles of Butterfly's.

 

I watched them break out the snowplows to clear off the bridges over the Mississippi river after the mayflies emerged. Major mess. Hard to steer through, too, as they are pretty greasey in large numbers.

 

I recently drove thru Arcadia, FL and in less than 25 miles couldn't see worth spit, ended up pulling off onto a side road to wipe it down. The chrome front was black with bugs. Whoever the idiot was who recommended spraying the front end with "Pam" should be shot. It was harder getting rid of that mess than the bugs. I discovered them white scrungys that my wife uses in shower takes a lot of them off, as does dryer sheets, lightly wetted. But be careful - it also messes up your paint job.
