looking to buy

I'm looking to buy a 2002 - 03 ? Anything I need to look for recalls, bad blocks. I just skimmed a few pages and read some of this. I'm pretty much am going to put the predator power puck stack , a air filer system and exhaust. I am also concerned about the tranny would this combo destroy it?

a. What do you want? 2nd or 3rd gen? 94-02 are 2nd, 03+ are 3rd gen, commonrail. For 2nd gens, avoid '53 blocks'. With that setup and auto, just your basic upgrades, vb, tc, etc. would help you out. A stick should hold up with a good stock clutch to that power. Welcome to DTR!

In reality I would get a 02 because of the money. I know all of tranny upgrades would help but, could it get it done for awhile without those upgrades? My buddy has a 02 f-250 are the trannys stronger? Anyways what is the 53 block?

Not sure what the problem with it is, I just know its dreaded. Would you be hunting an auto? I think with a single tuner, intake and exhaust you could def get by for a while on stock, just as long as you dont push it too much.
