Local Diesel Pull Results
I went to a diesel pull the other night at a nearby county fair.
To make this as short as possible, there were like 8 Dodges, 4 PSD, and 1 04 Duramax.
This was my first pull, and I was told that Dodge usually wins, which was true for this pull as it turned out.
What was disturbing to me was how poorly the Dodges did stock vs. stock. Like I said, a dodge DRW won, but this was a heavily bombed truck that belonged to a diesel performance shop owner.
All in all the trucks all pulled within a few feet of each other. I was VERY impressed with the SRW duramax. It easily outpulled an 03 CTD DRW as did a bone stock f250. A bunch of farmers were sitting behind me in the stands talking about how the newer cummins motors were way over rated, especially the 600 which they said didn't feel like it had anywhere near 600 ft. lbs. of torque. Judging by what I saw on the track, I had no grounds to turn around and argue w/ them.
My own opinion based on what I saw on the track is that the Cummins is the strongest motor, but not in stock form. If I was forced to get another diesel, I would seriously look into the duramax, it appeared to be very stout.

I guess it depends on a lot of things not just HP when it comes to sled pullin. I saw just last weekend a stock 04 600 2500 short bed 4 door Dodge out pull a crew cab dually that was pushing out some serious smoke for a PSD.
so what can you read out of that? its not all power but that helps.
another event I pulled at in the stock class my friends 04 dually which is stock out pulled a durmax with the same set up but with a chip (don't know the HP) it was only by 4 feet but the dodge only had 2k miles on it and was as stock as one can get. the durmax had to lose a tailgate to get into the class. both were great looking trucks and pulled really well. but HP aint everything in sled pulling. do we have any dyno #'s out on the 600 in stock form? are they overrated?
