Left OK and on the way to AK!
Well, done and graduated. The pic is me taking the wife's car to be shipped up there. Spend some time with family in CO then start heading north! The truck drove great, kept it at about 60 and averaged 15 mpg. I just need to buy my own trailer now!

Got all heaters/warmers installed, mounted a little box inside the bumper so I can just open the winch door and pull out my cord to plug in, I like it.
Only concern before the long trip is I've got the leak between the PS and VAC pumps. It's there, but slow. I should be ok as long as I maintain fluid levels if needed right? There's no other risk? I am wondering if I should go ahead and just get that fixed while I'm on leave. Thanks, look forward to driving through Canada and hopefully seeing some trucks!

Mines been leaking at the same spot for awhile now, just check the oil and keep on going. Works good as a rust preventive during the winter/throw down the salt in the road times. I know somebody offers a kit to fix it and like rich said not to long to fix.
One thing I did notice on mine when going on long trips back to upstate NY. The oil level would be fine and then several hundred miles into the trip it would belch some oil at that spot, then the oil level would be down. I'd top it off at a truck stop and go on the rest of the way(800 mile each way). Then on the way back it would do it again. It would be oily right at the PS/vac set up. It don't do it while doing my average routine around here though. Keep some of your brand oil in the truck and you'll be ok or get it fixed, either way both of us will have to get it fixed at one point.
Good luck on the drive, always wanted to drive the Alaskan Highway.

I won't be towing the Subaru the whole way, I actually dropped it off in TX to be shipped up there. Thanks for the tip though Haloman!

Driving to Alaska this time of year? Should be pretty and interesting. We made the trip this summer. Get the truck fixed before you start out. As you may know, services are pretty far apart and not real complete at each stop on this trip. And the cell phone does not reach in a lot of areas.
Where you going in AK? If you go thorugh Prince George, BC there is a dodge dealer that gives good service if your truck needs some attention.

Yeah the winter drive should nice, no potholes right? I am PCS'ing and have no choice about the timing though.
We're going to end up in Fairbanks or North Pole, still waiting to find a house!
Does anyone have a good guess at what it should cost for the seal to be replaced? I don't have the time or tool with me at this point, they're already on a truck to AK!
Why are you headed north if you are going to Arkansas? AK right?
Ha just kiddin.
The seal kit for the ps and vac is only like 13 dollars at cummins. Easy fix only took couple of hrs. Take off intake tube and pull PS/vac as one unit.
Also take spare fuses, belt, feul filter.
Have fun

Make sure you bring along some shorts and suntan lotion. We're getting almost 4 hours of daylight and its -25*F today and dropping to around -40/45*F for a week or so. It'll be colder around the AK/ Canada border. bring some good anti-gell with you along with a few spare fuel filters just in case.
