Is that station somewhere on the west side (of Phoenix) or centrally located? I would love to try some but I rarely get past Central Avenue. (I live in Chandler and work in Tempe.)

 

It's on S 15th ave North of I-10 like 1 mile east of I17. It's a 15 minute drive from my job so I'll probably count on 1x a month taking a long lunch to fill up...

 

Will have to run over during the day then. njoverkill, did you get your clutch replaced? I remember you were looking for a flywheel to use.

 

No I didn't! I tried contacting you a couple times but kept missing you. I was hoping to get a spare flywheel so I could get it re-ground before I pull the clutch so I could do it on a Saturrday or Sunday same day.

Then I get to add more toys.......!

Don't forget that with bio you don't have to add any Power serv or Stan additives. These add about another $.05 per gallon. Even if you only add 1 gallon of bio per tank you won't need additives untill it starts getting cold. Plus if it makes your HP pump last an extra year you will be ahead of the game.

As for making it well I do a lot of things in my apt that I'm not supposed to do. Like the guy down the hall..he asks me if my TV was acting up last night. "No, I says not that I noticed" (don't have a tv..I wasn't lieing) but my TIG welder was running off the 220 AC outlet. And by the way, that's not sun tea sitting in gallon jugs with the E-quarium pumps running. Next step is a 50 gallon E-quarium for a wash tank The lye under the sink is for the constantly stopped up drains and the alcohol is for my window washer. LOL

I also have my own lock on the door. and a big fire ext.

 

So your saying that when they start mass s producing BD the prise will go up even more...........I just thought it would be a bunch cheaper cause its made from a renewable resource. I am all for supporting the farmers and not supporting the opec guys but i also like the cheapest fuel available if its good fuel. Ive been to the middle east and i dont wanna give them a cent. I have never seen a BD pump in Utah.

 

Usually, when more companies start making something the price should decline with more competition. With Biodiesel however, there are so many regulations and price manipulations at every step it's hard to guess what will happen.

The crops are subsidized, the process is regulated and the product is taxed. There is no such thing as a free market anymore.

Sorry, I assumed you had a backyard or garage to do something like this. And yes 60-70 cents per gallon includes the cost of methanol, lye and free cooking oil. YES I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT I MADE 20 gallons the first time, 40 gallons the second and now im making a 100 gallon reactor to make 80 gallon batches at a time. A simple water heater can heat up cooking oil pretty quick, I used a 5500 watt heating element to heat up 40 gallons of oil and only took about an hour.

But you are correct about the plumbing, reactors, retrieving the oil, and physically spending time making the equipment or buying a system and making the biodiesel. It might not seem that practical for a small amount of use, say 20 gallons you might use a week? Maybe more but you could make a small reactor out of a 5 gallon drum and make a few batches a week. All you need is time, some crafty know how and research on making biodiesel and its easily done. Reading up on the process of making biodiesel seems long but actually making it, the steps are simple and easy to do.

 

here, it's over 4 dollar a gallon, so it's still cheap in the US
