Re:ISX Cummins

Performance. Cummins unique dual overhead cam design delivers high performance, low emissions and exceptional braking. The first cam drives high-pressure fuel injection for clean, responsive power. The second cam includes a dedicated set of lobes for the operation of the integrated engine brake, in addition to operating the intake and exhaust valves. High-pressure fuel injection gives the ISX cleaner, more complete combustion. Variable Geometry Turbocharging produces quicker throttle response with less turbo "lag" for faster acceleration off the line and on highway on-ramps. Infinite adjustment provides the exact amount of boost needed at any engine speed.

Down side to this engine is everthing is internalized therefore one hairline crack means that the whole block has to be junked= big cash out your pocket- check around they have had there share of problems with this engine too. PK

I'd love even the base 400hp one in my Ram.

Re:ISX Cummins

I agree with PKennedy. The ISX is a spinoff too the Signature 600. Headgaskets have been a real problem with these as well. IMO, the N14 Plus is alot better engine. But, the 400 Big Cam will always be my top pick.

Re:ISX Cummins

I'll second the N14 vote, very reliable with good mileage. We've had some trouble with the isx's, surging, sometimes as much as 1.2 mpg less than N14, several injectors gone bad. Backed off on the high end for the insurance company(drivers hate it). ISX doesnt do too bad though, backed up by at least a 13 spd(3.33's?)Truck's should fly but ins. wont let 'em. Good thing sometimes, considering some of the drivers. These are in 379's.
