an interesting diesel swap idea

so i had a 2007 pontiac wave hatch come in today with a missing drain plug and a engine running without any oil. looking at the engine bay i pondered to myself. hmmmm how sweet would it be if i put my 1.6 diesel out of my vw in one of these. considering the car weighs next to nothing than so does my vw but imagine the mpg i would getting with a swap like that.

i was going to see what the outcome was going to be when i refilled it with oil and if the engine was knocking bad enough i would have offered the customer some money for his body and tried the swap.

but after dumping fresh oil in it the car ran like brand new. so there goes that idea lol.

What????? You mean to tell me the engine doesn't have any strange noises. The long term will tell, I'm sure damage was done.

Oil in the crank case is just a sales ploy by the oil companies to get you to buy that stuff and put it in the crank case and then the filter companies are in cahoots with the oil companies so you have to buy a filter to filter this stuff that you don't really need anyway and then the oil disposal companies are in cahoots with the oil companies and the, well, you get the idea. Protest the oil companies, don't buy or use engine oil. We'll show'em.

hahahahahahhahahahahha.

when i was working at another shop. the owner had an old suzuki swift he used as a winter beater. so we were getting it ready. drained the oil. put on a new filter. than he says start it up so we can find the fuel leak. so i start it. raise the car up. start looking around for a good 10 minutes. found the leak were like arlight cool lets order some tech steal to patch it up. he than looks at me and says "hey did you put oil in it?" im like "uh no i thought you did....."

uh oh ran over dropped it and put oil in it.

we sold the car two days later. the person is still driving it. its been 4 years since that happened.

A very interesting conspiracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are correct, then I really don't need fuel in the tank either!
Thanks for the savings.
I can't believe I missed it.
Ha Ha.

Hey what kind of mileage do you get this way ? I was contemplating doing it myself but I was afraid.
Any side effects to this ? Sorry if I seem a little paranoid but I don't want to end up on the side of the road with an opened hood staring down the engine bay wondering "what the....".

Thanks

I have a friend that used to have an '80s Passat diesel. He went in for an oil change and they forgot to add the oil. On the way home he was going up a grade and it began to slow down. So he pulled over to check it out and EEEK! no oil. They towed it back, added oil and he drove it for years after that.

I saw a guy at the state fair a couple years ago that was selling an oil additive. Each morning he would start a display engine on a stand (a six cylinder Ford) and run it for a while with oil. Then he would drain the oil, pull the pan off and run the engine the rest of the day, non stop. Day after day. No oil.

It's amazing how little oil is actually required.

In Canada you can only swap in an engine (Legaly) if it is the same year or newer than the VIN on the body/chassis.
