General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Impressed with Ram!

My dad just bought an 06 Ram 1500 quadcab 4x4 with the multi-displacement Hemi...the one that runs on 4 cylinders sometimes...and his first tank of fuel he got 17mpg, about half city and half highway. We also raced...not good...he smoked me up till about 80 when we both let off, he was way out in front of me. Really nice truck though...super quiet and smooth ride. He also got a flame red one...looks kinda cool when we park side by side on the jobsites.

Ask your dad when is he gonna buy a man's truck? CTD?

Then again, you might want to stay in his will.

my boss has an 02 QC 2500 with the hemi.
he gets a 16 mpg average according to teh computer. the variable displacement doesn't seem to be helping much. then again, it could be driver too...

My old man's 70 years old but he drives it like an young pup...always on it. Last thursday at lunch break he went out on the highway in front of the jobsite, came to a complete stop, then mashed it and smoked the rear tire. Just trying to show off for our workers.

Actually he's had many pullers... 95 F-250 Pstroke, 97 F-250 Pstroke, 98 Chev 3500 454 dually, 98.5 Ram 3500 CTD dually, 99 F-250 v-10, 00 F-350 Pstroke dually, 03 Ram 3500 CTD dually. He's kinda going into semi-retirement now so he got the 1500. Now I do all the pullin.
