So, you get a truck that big and the engine they're advertising puts out 220 hp and 540 ft-lbs, wieghs 14,500 lbs, and has a GVWR of 25,999 lbs (I suppose they couldn't go up to the full 26,000 because of CDL requirements!). That means you can only legally haul a 11,500 lb trailer. I know they said they have higher horsepower (and thus higher torque) engines, but you'd think a truck that big would be able to haul something more like 20,000 lbs.

I've seen the Chevy and Ford version of that truck. Pretty big! Dodge just better get on the ball and make a frame to stick that sweet 5.9 Cummins on so these guys can haul some real stuff!

gVrw= 25,999 means your 5th wheel could have a 11,500 pound pin weight...

Ah yes...ok then. I always get that GVW, GVCW, etc confused. In that case...you have a 220 hp/540 ft-lb engine hauling that kinda weight...makes you wonder what the 3rd Gen Cummins is capable of. And that also puts to shame all the torque/horsepower wars. It's not so much WHAT you have as much as HOW it's put together.

A new Dodge could still out tow it, though? Why's that CAT got ratings so low for? You see them in everything.

Think of the shop....I mean garage you'd have to build to fit that thing in.... Hmmm,,, That's a bonus I'd say!!!

But honey, it won't fit in our garage....I don't want you to have to worry about climbing up the cab steps in the snow....We'll have to raise the roof and stretch the walls out 10-15 feet or so each way.

Think of all the extra tool space

Think they would put one of these in it....

Don't know why you'd say the 466 is junk.

It's a very fine motor. I've put a lot of miles on those things....

Why do u say that?

Personally, if I were in the market for such a thing, I would go with one of the F650 pickup conversions. You can get PowerStroke (yeah, right), Cat, or 690 Cummins w/7 speed or allison, and if you want they can put a low sided bed on it so it could tow a 5th wheel.

Both the F650 and the International seem to me to be light on power for their towing capacity, at least on paper.

The little recreational Freightliner has some high powered MB engines, but then I don't think you can get 4x4...

It's a interesting idea but the truck is way too tall to hitch up a 5ver and the power level is disappointing. What do you need that for if you can only haul 6 tons? I realize that 6 tons keeps it under the 25,999 lb mark. We all know it could safely tow much more but what is the point if you will need a CDL and get pinched at every scale? So you can't have a 5ver and you can only bumper tow 6 tons legally Our CTD's can do that!

That said, it looks cool
