I love it when people make outrageous claims on HP

I was on Chevy truck world (I have a little project truck to play with) and a guy was say he had personally seen a Dmax that had 800 hp with only chip/exhaust/intake for mods!!! I dont know where some of these people get their numbers.

That's like in the last month edition of Diesel Power mag. They had a huge section of readers rides that gave esitmated HP and fuel mileage, better than half seemed to be delousional numbers...

They just add up the manufacturer HP claims.

Exhaust = 40 HP, intake = 25 HP, box = 210 HP, add in a 325 HP motor from the factory and you have 700 HP right there.

Even if he did have only a chip/ intake/ exhaust onthetruck there would be no tranny behind that thing it would be scattered down the road somewhere.

now the guy is saying, well here is exactly what he said.......

quote: "o thanks for reminding me he did have new injectors and fuel pump and some kinda hi flow filter and 3 chips stacked on top of each other"

i really dont think the stock ally will hold all that.....I am not quite sure that you can have 3 "chips" stacked together. I may just be ignorant!

D Wiggs said it best. I believe his statement was "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof". Eight hundred is very doable so let's see the video. The doubting ends when the proof hits the table.

Yeah, so with stripes and stickers. Id say an 800 hp truck would be achievable easily, just throw a big ally decal and it'll hold till 1,000 hp

I ran into one of those guys at a vintage motorbike meet this spring. Tried to tell me his new LBZ Duramax was putting out 1050 torque with a Banks intake, exhaust and PDA programmer. I just nodded knowing he would be limping home in 2nd gear if that were really the case.
