I have to admit... I usually don't wait at all. If I've been driving on the interstate and I think about it I'll wait for a minute or so... but that's usually met with a "What the heck are you doing? Get out already!"

Watch the pyro, shut down, listen to the sweet sound of the turbo spooling down while grinning ear to ear, THEN open the door and get out.

With my last car I got in the habit of staying out of boost the last fw minutes of driving. That way it's got a good amount of oil running through the turbo to cool it. I figure the oil flow at idle is minimal, and could cause some coking stillf if it's real hot.

Howards timer here

Turn it on, hop out, runs for 2 minutes then shuts down...
Usually cools down enough before the 2 minutes is up, unless im towing...

Even when I had my Trans Am and Mustang, I had a habit of idling for 30sec-1min before shutting it off when I was ragging on it pretty good

same here i also live in a cul-de-sac. i have to idle cause the drive to get to my apartment is full of speed bumps and storm drains. they are killers with a lifted truck. also it usually takes me a minute to get my truck in to a space due to a small lot. so by the time i get it parked it has had plenty of time to cool off. and i still let it sit for a minute after that.

Same here,,,,
As I reach for the key,,, if it isn't below 300,,,, I hit the timer. If I'm towing the 5er,,, a rest area pit stop usually means the grandbabies want out NOW,,,(Grandma's job) and the 3,,,, no wait,,,, there's 4 Micro-Mutts now, all wanting to run for the first patch of grass,,, (my job),,, so the timer gets flipped to 6 minutes and we can all get out of the truck, lock the doors and I don't need to worry about the truck taking off while I'm 50 yards away in a tangled tied up mess of four leashes.
