Heavy Duty Truck Advice

I'm keeping my eye open for another straight truck. This would be the dream vehicle:

engine:

IDI so that I can run SVO/WVO easy
minimum of 250 hp, more = better (you know)
good mechanical IP, no electronics
not worried about real good efficiency
I like I6's, no V's

body/frame:

30' box
heavy front (14k?), heavy rears (tandem w/ 22.5")
roll up rear door
at least a ten speed

nice to have:

air ride
air seat

The engine is the important thing. I want a tough engine that I can fool around with. Don't care about truck or engine make, just want a good engine for WVO, servicability and power.

I know that I'm probably looking at something built in the '80's, thats OK.

How about some opinions from you HD diesel hands?

Thanks, JP.

You won't find anything like that with an IDI engine.

You will most likely have to find the truck chassis and van body seperately. You are looking for Class 8 running gear, and pretty much all straight vans are on Class 7 chassis.

Pretty much everything made before the mid '90's will be all mechanical.
