Gm Nv4500

I am working on gathering parts for a cummins conversion into an 82 GMC.

I have been told that a GM nv4500 will bolt up to the aluminum np208 chain drive transfer case that came out of the gmc, is that correct?

What do I have to do to get that GM NV4500 mated to the cummins engine, should I purchase a backing plate, and flywheel from a P30, or shoud I put the dodge input shaft into the gm nv4500 and use the cummins flywheel, and rework the getrag bell housing?

Also if there is a better place for this post than here please let me know.

Thanks Jon

I think part of your answer will be found in what year NV4500 you have. Do not hold me to it, but 95 and older had the GM pattern bellhousing to tranny bolt pattern. I think 96 they switched them all to be the same.

I would NOT use the P30 setup unless you are running a 4BT, I am quite sure the clutch will not handle the torque.

So, if you have a 96 or newer tranny, go full Cummins.
