This was fun........

Coming home yesterday towing our 26"tt with my 97, hit a bump and lo and behold death wobble at 60 mph on a 2 lane mountain road towing a 6000' trailer....yikes!!! The good thing is that after da boss got over her little panic and could speak again she informed me that before we take the trailer out again I need to go out and get a new truck (darn huh)....anyhoo I went looking and am trying to decide between a 07 with the 6.7 and a 06 with a 5.9, both are 4 wheel drive long bed quad cabs. My question is are the 6.7's in the 07's still having issues with the DPF system or have they ironed that out? Any thought's would be appreciated.

The DW could be something simple like tires. It could also be ball joints or tie rod. I would think you would want to fix it first but it's your call.

I really like my 06, it's the last year before more pollution stuff went on.

I would go with a total rebuild of my front end on the 97, you will regret selling it.

But if she insists, I would probably go with the 06 unless the majority of teh time you are towing.....or can afford to scrap the warranty and do the deletes on the 07.

You better keep reading on these forums. The 3rd gens get DW more often than the 2nd gens.

I do see a pattern of DW and other issues on the 3rd gens. but when I looked at the big picture for my situation it became an easier decision. Not all that long ago I would have stuck with the older truck but at this point in life that just wasn't feasible so I bit the bullet and moved on.

Boy, that's an understatement.
If DW was something simple, someone would have come up with a simple cure by now.

Actually I had the dreaded DW in a van I had, DW was cured with new tires.

Everyone else had a theory from tie rods to wiper blades.
