I'm New to this forum what i need is to know is when do you change fuel filters after how many miles or fuelup's ?? just got a 2001 3500 to haul fright an need to know when to change it

 

I do mine about every 3 oil changes.

 

I use Fleetguard filters from "Geno's"and change them at same time I do the oilchange. (It may be overkill but the VP44 likes clean fuel oil)

 

I also have the fuel and oil filters by fleetgaurd delivered right to my door. I change my oil every 5k and fuel every 10k.

 

I change mine when the pressure drops.

 

That's the only sensible way to to change the filter.
One bad tank of fuel can clog the filter in 10 miles. On the other hand I know a fellow who went 62k before his clogged. Going by my fuel pressure gauge I go between 30-40k.
In other words changing by mileage alone is simply stupid.
Saving just two unnecessary filter changes will easily pay for a fuel pressure gauge.
