Found! '97 12V: 75K original miles!

Darn it if this isn't tempting. I found a cream puff of a '97 12v FIVE SPEED truck. Interior and body aren't immaculate, but awfully close.

It's 2wd, so the extra mpg and lower ride height would be nice.

They're asking over 12K for it, though-- that's pretty rich for me.

I bet it's worth it though to have a "grail" truck. I know only the '98 12V 4x4s are considered grails, but imo the 97 2wd is every bit as desireable. It's all about the 215 pump, right?

That sounds great - mine is a '96, about the same, but not extended cab or short bed either. I prefer the '96 & 97's less "cost improved" dashboard (and I don't see them cracking either). They are asking quite a bit too much, however. But you know the drill - take them cash, and they should budge. I would want to verify the mileage, use and service records first of course...

Is it in Hawaii?

This one is an extended cab (no quad in '97) LONG BED--

But it's never had a fiver hitch or G/N. The bed looks untouched!

I'd offer them $9K and see if they budged.

That's why it varies from person to person... I don't like shortbeds much, as I haul a lot in the bed.

And Justin, it's all about the 215s

I figure that pump is worth really good money, so the rest of the truck is a lot cheaper

They typically go for around $10k blue book if they're really clean...

That's what my 97 was. Mine had 3.54 and I miss the mpg and the 5spd for city driving. No shortbed diesel in 97 and the 97 was the first year for hydroboost brakes. I did the mainshaft 5th gear fix and the kdp and built a really nice hauler bed on it. I sold it at 94k and it was as cherry as any could get for $10k. I still wouldn't go back to a 2nd gen but they are great trucks! Craig

I found a 97 dually, ex cab, 4x4 on a local car lot, w/ 50k mi on it. Wanted $17k for it. I offered them $13k and the laughed at it.
Truck was off the lot in less than a week. Guess they fetch pertty good money here in NM!
