Ah-ha the modern double walled tanks don't allow fuel to reach the same temp as the ground.
Perhaps the reason Flying J has hotter fuel is because they pump more, the fuel is fresher off the delivery truck that baked in the hot sun on the way to the station.
It's not something I'm going to worry about because according to the article the reverse is true with fuel below 60°, something that most likely happens in Montana for nine months out of the year.

It is not a percentage. It is an 8 cent road tax difference by GVW. Look on the pump there should be a black sticker that say there is an $.18 tax to less than 26,000 # GVW. This is an Arizona road tax.

Another thing I might subconsciously take into consideration is that 99% of Flying J car/RV pumps are pay at the pump, which gives me an automatic 5% discount, which on $2.50 diesel is 12.5 cents, which knocks out the other station whose price might be 5 cents cheaper but has no pay at the pump. Are you filling up at the CAR/RV section or truck section. Truck pumps are a good few cents higher than the car pumps.

Arizona is wrong to charge for under 26,000 . There are a lot of commercial vehicles under that weight . Indiana has a tax on diesel but you are exempt if you have an MC number . When I buy diesel at a Speedway using a gift card ( you only pay $48 for a $50 card ) and pay at the pump it doesn't ask for an MC number .

Don't worry AZ rips off commercial plated vehicles (and every other kind) by charging astronomical REGISTRATION charges. It is just another road tax for over the #26,000. Every state has there own way of getting the money they want. How much and how, right or wrong is for the political forum.
