Employees propose Chrysler Buyout

This seems like a positive development in the ongoing saga of "who's gonna buy Chrysler":

That is, unless the UAW screws things up.

I read that article and it made me angry. The UAW has WAY too much power! I hope the employees can pull it off, if they can get "permission" from the union that is

Sounds like a long shot, but what exactly would this mean? The article made it sound like every other industry that has tried something like this has failed.

If that happened can you imagine what we might see on the streets!
Might even see a real Crew Cab with an 8ft bed with a combined towing capacity between 26k and 30K.

The 4500/5500 limit at 26k is a great idea for the commercial guys and the CDL requirement. But, they should look at the non commercial aspect also and offer a truck with more capacity.

Didn't Harley-Davidson employees do the exact same thing in the early 80's?

If they can, why can't these guys? (barring any union rules)

I believe that it won't work. I have been involved in that type of experiment before. If the employees buy it the big dogs eventualy will come in and take it all for free.
