Where to Propose?

I have been thinking about it for while now. I live in Northern Maryland. I have thought of a place called "High Rock". Its a huge rock at the top of a mountain and overlooks miles of land, fields, and houses. Where did you guys propose. It doesnt have to be around here. I love traveling anyway. Dont really want to leave the country to do it. I want it to be perfect (Romantic) for her. Thanks for your help and advice.

Where did you first meet?

That's always a good place too.

I don't think you could go wrong with that. Either that, or something that has some previous meaning to the two of you.

I live in New Orleans and shortly after the hurricane, the better half and I were working in Dallas. We got jobs there since the university was shut down and both of our parent's homes were okay. We got jobs at the same place, but different department and I worked really long hours so we never got a chance to do much. One of the few places we did get to go was the Botanical Gardens in Ft. Worth. Hadn't got to just go walk around and talk in a long time. Anyway, long story short, the dust settled back here at home and we went back to the normal routine. We went back to visit friends we had met during that time and I told her I wanted to go there. Found a nice quite spot and popped the question. We had been dating for 7 years at that time and she had been somewhat in that "we'll never get married" mindset. Sure did put a smile on her face.

Oh yeah, make sure you ask here dad first!

I did it during a hot air balloon ride...it worked well

My advice is to not buy the ring on your own. I proposed to her with a small, inexpensive diamond band and let her pick out the ring. The ring she chose was WAY different than what she wanted a couple months before. Just my .02, good luck!

Agreed! I knew the diamond cut she wanted and nothing else. I had the biggest rock I could afford set in a cheap inexpensive band that they told me I could return as long as it was not damaged. We then went in and picked out what she wanted. Much happier girl that way...don't want her hanging that ugly ring you picked out over your head for the rest of your life.

Oh yeah, about the ring, be prepaired to sell your truck to pay for it.

Come over here to the Eastern Shore, go down to St. Michaels or Oxford and do it on a pier. Or do it at a Raven's game. Or you could do it where y'all first met.

Agreed....I couldn't pick out jewelry to save my life. Went to wally world and bought a $7 band. 2 weeks later made reservations at a 'nice' restaurant. half way thru the meal, popped the Q'. She too was into the mindset of 'never getting married'. Oh, I did ask her dad. You could hear the respect point increasing in my favor.

Oh, and a few weeks later she found a reasonably priced rock for ~$500 on ebay; had it appraised at $1800 after we bought it!

Let us know how it goes!

Tony

I did mine at Bistro on Main in Lexington. We were staying at Fox Hill B and B and she was blown away. I would highly recommend Fox Hill as a great getaway! We have been back every year since!

I went to the Rose Garden in the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. It was early evening, with the sun setting. At that point the Gardens were actually closing, but I snuck us in. We sat down for a couple minutes, and then she had this idea she wanted to sit on the grass (in a dress no less...it was our 2nd year annverisary of dating, 3rd of meeting), so instead of sitting down, I got down on my knees and proposed. She of course said yes, and we kissed.

Then went to go see Pirates of the Caribbean 2, in all its glory. It was a fun night, we were out to about 4 in the morning just talking afterwards.
