electric rust protection

I saw a ad that you can use battery energy running through your body panels and metal components to protect against rust. It stated that snow plows and industrial equipment have been using this tecnonlgy for years. Anybody hear or seen this or use this on there trucks?

The Navy and metal bridges have been using electric rust protection for decades. My understanding is that in order to work the object's paint must be electrically conductive so you are out of luck on most vehicles.
