Dodge 05 2500/3500 Questions

Hi, I am new to this site and I am trying to find out some more indepth infomation about the 2500/3500 models. I plan on purchasing a pre-owned 05 Dodge Q/C 4x4 diesel come July. What I want to know is if there is really any pros about having the 3500 no-dually over the 2500. The 3500 has more of a beefed up front end/frame compared to the 2500 correct? Also, would it be wiser to choose the 6 speed over the 4-auto? Thanks.

i just bought an 05 myself a month ago its a 3500 srw auto. it depends on you what are you going to be using it for. and the 6 speed or auto thats up to you i like the auto. 6 speed gets real old quick deffinetly when theres traffic.

The only differences between the 2500 & 3500 srw are the helper springs on the rear end of the 3500, and the cab clearance lights. Otherwise they are the same truck. Oh yea, and the door stickers, the 2500 is 9000 gvw and the 3500 is 9900 gvw. that's the main reason I bought the 3500, for the added 900 lb. capacity. You can't replace the sticker.

Thanks. I won't be hauling anything with it thats major. I've just always wanted to have a truck like this. Kind of a toy, but you never know. If I ever had to tow something I'm sure it would pull whatever it was just fine. I figured that maybe the 3500 suspension would hold up in general better than the 2500. I know that Dodge trucks are knowen for their ball joints to be crap in them. I just figured the 3500 might be more prone to it. But it seems like there isn't much difference so I could probably save some coin then just by getting the 2500.

I dont know if there will be too much of a price difference in the two used. IIRC there was about$800 or less difference when I bought mine new.

I have the 2500 and wish I had got a 3500 srw. 25's come with no sway bar and no overloads I wish mine had both. I have since added a helwig sway bar but is not as effcetive as the factory units IMHO, I also plan to add helwig springs too. In hind sight wish I had gotten 3500 srw long bed. Mine is also a six speed for my use I would not have anything else.
