Diesel engine swap

I have heard that a Dodge Cummins diesel will fit into a Ford truck. I have a 1987 Ford F250 6.9 diesel, 4x4, w/automatic transmission. I would like to put a Cummins diesel in replacement of the one that is in there. I plan to keep the truck, and have heard of such exchanges being made. Perhaps there are kits for such a job, or perhaps there rumors are infact too expensive to do. Any information would help.

Thank you,
Polska

Re:Diesel engine swap

I have one of those 87 F250 6.9L out back, I dumped $9,000.00 into it to rebuild it, then I woke up and bought a dodge. It's been sittin out back for 5yrs now, Can't even sell the darn thing. :'(
If you have the Dana 44 IFS front end under yours, like mine, you might want to reconsider. We al know about the dana 44 IFS. :...
Here's a list of parts I have replaced on it, just to grow flowers.
These are brand new parts, the wife was not impressed.

6.9L long block
Radiator
A/C Compressor
Bench Seat
Tires & rims
Wheel stud's & Nut's
Complete rebuild of the front and rear diff's
shocks
brakes frt & rear
tie rod ends, tie rod, drag link, fnt axle U-joint's
fnt and rear drive shaft u-joint's

All that for just over nine grand and it's still a ferd that doesn't run .... Just go buy the cummins with a dodge rapped around it, it's alot cheaper.

P.S. Anyone wanna buy a ferd, I'll let her go cheap!
