Detroit diesel S 60 Mechanics!
Detroit diesel S 60 Mechanics!
Hey everyone, ANyone know how to turn the speed limiter up on the truck? its a 96 international eagle. I was trying at work( somehow im soposed to be the one that knows, no ones trained but i am the only certified mech in the shop on cat :P psh) anyway. I could shut it off the limiter, i could decrease it, but not up it, i turned up the rpm limit and still nothing, anyone know anything?
I am sure you have to plugin the lap top to anything to a s-60,best eng out there too!!....but what would you gain by turning up rpm?? Flat torq all the way accross...........most you can turn up the hp (lap top again)
yes, I know i need a lap top, and can turn up the hp and what not, What i gain from turning up the RPM is, this, You ahve your forward gear, your top gear, If at 1500 rpm you can only go this fast, You can tell the computer to let the truck go x fast but it can only go as fast as the mechanics of the driveline let it, So you up the RPM limiter, So now it can go that fast, Anyway thanks for the reply
I don't know if I quite understand what your saying, but it sounds like you are trying to raise the rev limiter past 1500, I know that at work all of our eng are programed w/ comp, which you said you have, can you print out a data sheet on the eng specs? I think instead of looking to up the "rpm's" try upping the "pto" out put limit which cntls the rpm's via switch on dash. I think you will get what you are after. Just my .02
i think he's looking at resetting the road speed governor. i know it is real easy to do on the cummins engines with the IS ecm's... the DDEC 3/4 should have similar options.. [i haven't been on a computer hooked to ddec since i was in school [although i work with ddec3/4 ecm's daily, they have EMD's emdec software loaded into them, and speed is not controlled there]
Yep, I got her done a couple days ago, Basically i had to up the RPM limit, Raise the speed limiter, AFTER i changed the progressive shift options. Then all was w2ell and everyone went home happy
