We have a older Deutz diesel 6" trash pump, 1 cylinder, model FL210D that has developed some problems. For the most part it sat around but as of recently we been running it for several hours a day. It started in smoking both black and white, still sounds pretty normal but had also developed a missfire. shop took it in and said the cam was shot,I got it back and found the intake valve setting at more than 1/4 inch and the screw adjuster backed way off compared to the exhaust. Ill assume the shop left it like this after messing with it. I set a dial indicator up and checked the cam and get roughly .235 lift on either lobe. Deutz will not give me the specs without weeks of research. I was hoping for one someone had a manual or specs for the cam lift.
I reset the valves, fired it up and she runs decent but when you get above around 1/2 throttle it starts in smokin and missing.
any ideas here?

Old engine could equal week springs. and bad / clogged injectors. Both would show up more at higher rpms (around 1/2 throttle)
