Cummins V8 & V6

Did anyone see the small artical in four wheeler about the V8 & V6 cummins. The V8 5.6L 300hp & 460 lb-ft and the V6 4.2L 250-270 hp with same torque. These engines will be for under 8500 gvwr. They did drive them so it's not a myth.

The V8 would be nice in a Tahoe ( for the wife ).

When I read it, my first thought was to swap one into my wife's 2 door Tahoe. It's lifted and the stockish 5.7 just does not have enough guts. It's that or a big block.

Very interesting. Cummins has made V8's and V16's for at least 30 years. These large, stationary engines are used for gen sets, oil field equipment, etc. Not too surprising that Cummins would start making small V's for automotive application.

Does anyone know if GM has any plans for a diesel in a full sized SUV? Tahoe or Suburban.

I Work @ a Chevy dealership and nothing has been said or planned as of yet. I saw the same conversion in a Suburban about 4-5 months ago in 4wheeler.

unless you need a more compact design, or unless 1200lbs is just too much weight.

FYI - isuzu makes millions of in-line diesels every year.
