Yeah, sounds sweet!
I saw a Chebby commercial last night touting its newest attempt at a 1500 as the biggest, baddest, blah, blah. They said Dodge, Ford, and Toyota couldn't match it blah blah. First time I have heard one of the "Big 3" ever mention the "T" like that.
It caught my attention. It made it sound like they were coming directly at Toyota as a hard line contender. Not just one of those silly pull off contests where they sorta line up everyone's best dog, etc.

There is no denying Toyota quality. They are top notch. At this point in time I'd never own one, but who is to say that won't change in the future.
And with Toyota supposedly coming out with a diesel in 2007 so there is only so long that the big 3 can ignore them.

The Tundra is a great 1/2 ton. I had a V8 4x4 Access Cab before my Ram and I loved it. I was well built, fast, and I comfortable. They built a new truck plant in San Antonio, and come 2007 they are supposed to have HD models with diesel and some DRW options. I will probably go back, as this is my first non-Toyota ever (mmmm..........Cummins power with a 6speed)

Toyota is for real and the "big 3" would be well advised to respect the threat they pose.
FYI-- Toyota is a member of the "big three" as they are larger than DC in terms of market cap, I think. They also have more global sales.

I had a Toyota and beat the crap out of it and never had a minutes trouble with it. My wife has a Tundra and it is a nice truck for sure. The quality is better than the "big 3" I hate to say it but it is true. We have 50,000 and it has never had anything done to it but change oil and put gas in it. I did put new tires on it this summer. I can't remember any of the "big 3 " being that reliable.
The Tundra is built about 20 miles from my house. I worked on the plant when it was being built and I have lots of friends that work for Toyota. I fell good about spending my money on a local built truck.Even if it is a jap. company. They spend a lot of money in the community more so than any of the other industry around here. They make great neighbors, and a great product.

I think the one the are missing is the Titan. The Nissan is a really good truck. It has a few liteel problems since it is realativley new but I know a few people that were looking for a truck to pull their race trailers and the settled on the Titan. If I was looking at a gasser I would look in that direction.
I too had a Toyota truck. Back when it was just a Toyota truck, and the only truck they offered. Little 4 banger under the hood, 4wd, and manual tranny. I should have never sold it. Even with close to 150k hard miles, it still gave more than it got with no problems. Zero recalls, no TSB's, nothing except nothing.
I lived in Central Kentucky at the time, and this was around the same era when the Camry Plant was built in Georgetown. They did a lot for the area, and the plant was at the time state of the art.
The thought of a HD Toyota with a capable and BOMB friendly oil burner under the hood.....oooppss 'scuse me while I wipe the drool off of the keyboard.
Oh, and saw another Chebby commercial last night touting their resale value. Not one word mentioned about Toyota in that one. Go figure.

"Apples to apples" engine wise was kinda where I was going with that. The commercial was based on the Chebby 1500.
And yes, would have to agree that a Toyota and an appropriate diesel under the hood would be, uh...well, nice!

Yes, and part of that is because the Federal Government shackles them with an additional HUGE tax that so called American manufacturer's never see.
Truly comparing them apples to those apples isn't easy.
