Right, the Cummins is smaller; around 40 CI at the least. Could that account for the Cummins having less power? I realize it's not that big of a difference, esp for engines that size, just asking.

well I seriously doubt that has anything to do with power. The N14 could be had up to 525hp and all the way down to I believe 350, I know the one I had could have went to 370 at the lowest. I know there are N14s that run good, but the one I had did not. It melted a piston at just over 400k miles and even after a complete rebuild it was a pooch. It just didn't have any touque. It was replaced with an identical truck with a C13 and there is no comparison. I'm not totally against cummins, they build good stuff but the new ISX isn't it.

3406E came in both 14.6 and 15.8L (the 600hp was 15.8)
The C15 was 14.6L from 1999-2003. And 15.2L was called the C16. When they switched to Acert the 14.6L was dropped. Links provided.
