Yeah, I looked on Castrols website and you can enter vehicle type and it comes out with Castrol HD15/40 something or Syntec but bo mention of Tection which is advertised as a diesel oil. Go figure?

The name of the oil aside. Is castrol's 15-40 any good? I always run valvoline but the castrol is on sale for $5.00 a gallon and figured what the heck I would try it if castrol had any good reputation for diesel oils.

I bought 3 gallons 'cuz it was a on special at Advance Auto for $5.00 a gallon.

It's in my Cummins now.
Can't say that I see much difference.
I'll get an analysis done when this stuff reaches 7500 miles.
Will probably go back to Valvoline Premium Blue for peace of mind (and the fact that I have 6 gallon of it on the shelf) for the next change.

IF your looking for low cost oil why not just run wal-mart super tech 15-40, the lowest price I have seen of any oil. Oh by the way, it is CI-4/SM rated which is more than adiquate (spelling) for our engines.

I stopped buying Castrol several years ago, when they got busted for not putting any additives in their oil.

??? never heard that one, be interested in hearing more. Personally I think Castrol is the "hot product" due to BS advertisment. Kinda like their Syntec fake synthetic oil thats really dino oil.

I was in Kragen's last night and they had Castrol 15W40 on special; "buy one gallon, get one gallon free". Check your local store if interested. I was looking for synthetics...no luck.

No synthetic at Kragen???? The king of Bling??? bet they had plenty of neon light kits for ricers though. Go to Walmart, Just picked up a bunch Of Rotella synthetic for $3.88 a quart. Even its getting hard to find round here. They used to have Delvac syn also but no more. Also the Castrol Tection has dissapeared. Cost dont bug me, lack of quality does.

I just posted a thread Castrol VS Rotella.
I just put Castrol Tection in my truck and it has 3000+ and is a golden color of new oil and it seems to leak less, not that i had big leaks, only a few drips. Seems good.
I still think that regular oil changes using quality components is the best thing.
Even thou people still agrue about this oil vs that oil, filters etc.
just my 2 cent
