Can't go far enough

Need to know the best way to increase the amount of diesel storage without filling up my truck bed. has anyone tried one of the replacement tanks and if so how did it work and how hard was it to replace? Any other options would be appreciated. I have recently started using biodiesel and would like to fill up with more because none is available real close to me.

Do a search under "Fuel Tank Vent Mod". You'll be able to get about another 3-4 gallons in the stock tank!!

Use my "Poor Man's Aux Fuel Tank" method.
Buy a bunch of 5 gallon fuel cans, fill em up when you take the truck for a refill, then store the full cans in the garage.

Here is an idea some friends of mine and I are kicking around.

Move the exhaust to the outside of the frame (Kinda like side pipes, but tucked under the body)
Add a Second fuel tank to the other side of the drive line where the exhaust used to be.
"T" into the fuel fill line to fill the new tank at the same time as the main tank.
Add appropriate directional solenoid valve to switch between tanks.

Take note that unless BD is stored in a container filled totally to the top with no air or light and isn't opened that it starts going bad in about 45 days then progresses rapidly after that. Basically it goes rancid and doesn't lend itself well to stockpiling.
There are antioxidants available to prevent this but add to cost of the BD and are not provided at the pump, you have to add them yourself.

If you are looking for a larger tank and not fill up your bed you can check these guys out: http://www.aerotanks.com/ They make replacement tanks that fit in the OEM location (up to 60 gals, if I remember correctly).

i wouldn't mind having another tank mounted where my spare tire use to live... it's been in the bed for over a year now anyways... just build a tee fitting to fill both tanks from the same filler, and have like a 1/8"-1/4" crossover pipe between the tanks, so slowly the aux tank will fill the main until the levels equalize, and if something broke on that line, it wouldn't be a massive leak. i wonder how a 140 liter suburban tank would fit aft of the rear axle???

True, except that as far as I can tell that particular kit isn't available anymore. I've wondered how hard it would be to make my own though.

Won't a tank out of a Ramcharger fit in that area for a first gen?

I would love a bigger tank, but I'd have to take out a second mortgage to fill it up....
